Administration Assistant Solicitation for the Building Operator Certification Program and Northwest Water & Energy Education Institute
The Northwest Water & Energy Education Institute (NWEEI) is seeking qualified professionals to assist with course management for the Building Operator Certification (BOC®) program.
BACKGROUND
The Building Operator Certification (BOC®) is a national workforce training and credentialing program administered in Oregon by the Northwest Water & Energy Education Institute. The BOC uses occupational skill standards to teach a curriculum that addresses energy-efficient building operation and maintenance practices, energy management, sustainability, water efficiency, general and electrical safety, and building performance measures. To earn the credential, participants must attend training, pass online tests, and complete a series of project assignments at their facility. BOC training is an online program offered as a statewide coordinated educational opportunity and supported by the Energy Trust of Oregon through student incentives for students who complete the course. This education supports building owners by improving building energy performance and lowering utility costs. The current Building Performance Standard (BPS) policy administered through the Oregon Department of Energy identified BOC courses as part of the qualifications for the “Qualified Energy Person” who can do reporting and support the new State Building Performance Standards
Administration Assistant Responsibilities:
The position will provide administrative support to the Program/Course Manager by the following duties:
● Support course instructors and participants over the 8-day course series during a 6 month time frame. Classes occur every 3 weeks. The series is delivered via Zoom. The estimated time commitment is 130-140 hours per course series, including class moderating hours.
● Duties include launching each class event in Zoom and coordinating with and supporting the instructor; maintaining attendance records; record-keeping; and managing the BOC credentialing process at the end of each course series with a goal of 90% of participants earning a credential. ● Additional support for the program manager, including documentation, marketing, and tracking students’ progress.
● Monthly hours would be estimated at 40 hours. Times are flexible except for the Zoom classes. Those are mandatory.
